Every year I pair up with one of The Fellas for Halloween. Last year I sewed some extra arms on a shirt, painted a black samurai helmet and kabuki mask to be Lord Garmadon from Ninjago. This year, following Ford’s obsession with the Percy Jackson book series and all things “son of Poseidon”, his request was “Daddy, you should be a hippocampus.” I vaguely recalled that the hippocampus was the part of the brain that navigated emotions and long-term memories, so the request sounded peculiar. Then Ford let me know that it was also a mythical beast that Percy Jackson rides when he is in the ocean – a horse with a fish tail.
I’m sure they’ve got that at the Halloween store.
Ford was decked out in a “Camp Halfblood” tee, swords and shield, as any demi-god would be, and my goal was to become a rainbow colored horse-fish.
