The Team got first round information today that one of The Elder’s best friend’s mom was expecting. We talked about the nature of this kind of announcement, how it was their story to tell more than ours, and that for a period of time it was a ‘secret’. We discussed how it was a secret to keep someone safe and to contribute to their joy, not to exclude someone from information for someone else’s benefit.
It also was the trigger for our next addition to the Vockell Rules.
Rule #32: if you have a secret, the best thing is to keep it to yourself; the second best is to tell one other person if you must; there is no third best.
This will have to be encouraged carefully.
